Plan Bee is coming to Vancouver Island!
Plan Bee is Pollinator Partnership Canada's community science program, and it's now coming to Vancouver Island!
The goal of this project is to collect information on the associations that bumble bees and other pollinators have with floral resources in and around Vancouver Island in order to gain an understanding of critical food resources needed for survival by at-risk bumble bees, current local occurrence status of these bee species, as well as the stewardship capacity for listed species and their ecosystem services.
Participating in Plan Bee couldn’t be easier! With the iNaturalist app, everything is hosted in one place, easy to access, and perfect for sharing your best pollinator pictures with the community! To register to take pat in Plan Bee Vancouver Island, simply:
- Download the iNaturalist app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- Create a free account
- Join the Vancouver Island Plan Bee Community Science Project
- Start snapping pictures of pollinators, and share them with the community!
Whether it's during your weekend stroll, in your garden, or on your favourite trail, every picture shared to the Plan Bee Vancouver Island page helps us to better understand the plant-pollinator interactions on the island. The more information we have, the better we can understand what we can do to ensure that pollinators are continue to thrive, and that their habitats remain intact and protected.
